FAQs

How Do I know if i need COUNSELLING?

Maybe something has been bothering you for a while and your life is going through a change, maybe you feel you would like to look at your past in more detail or you’ve been struggling with your mental health again or for the first time. You may have had trouble sleeping recently or you are not feeling happy and satisfied in your life. Whatever it is counselling can be hugely beneficial.

How can therapy help me?

It can be very useful to have someone unrelated to you who listens to your life. Therapy can be useful to you by helping to break down patterns that form in our lives, look back at our past and put two and two together to help us understand our current selves. It can also be helpful to have a place where you feel you can think more clearly and have an hour a week where you can prioritise yourself.

What is the first session like?

The first session will be an opportunity for you to find out if you think counselling is soemthing you would like to do. It will give you time to work out how you feel about therapy and how you feel about wokring with me. It is normal to be nervous in the first session, especially if this is your first time in therapy. We will also look over a counselling contract so that we are both on the same page about the counselling sessions. We will also have a conversation about goals you would like to work towards in therapy and the direction you would like the sessions to take.

How many sessions will i need?

The amount of sessions you have is up to you, I offer both long term and short term therapy. Counselling is a process and the amount of sessions needed is dependant on you and what you are comfortable with. It is worth noting that as a process you can sometimes feel worse before you start to feel better, and this is completely normal.
